General Services
What ages do you work with?
I work with children of all ages, from toddlers to teens, and tailor therapy to meet their developmental stage and unique needs.
Do you offer evaluations only, or ongoing therapy too?
Both! I provide comprehensive evaluations as well as ongoing therapy sessions, depending on what your child needs. If you need an evaluation only, contact our office and we can schedule you in.
Are bilingual evaluations and treatment sessions available?
Yes! As a bilingual myself and with my background in teaching English as a Second Language, I understand how language development looks for bilingual children and can provide accurate evaluations and therapy support.
Do you offer parent coaching sessions?
Yes! Parent coaching is a big part of what I do. I help families create a language-rich environment at home to support progress outside of sessions.
Do you collaborate with schools, teachers, or other professionals?
Yes! Collaboration is so important. With your permission, I can connect with your child’s teachers, doctors, or other therapists to ensure consistent support.
Therapy Experience
Is therapy play-based or more structured?
Therapy is always play-based, but with structure woven in. Children learn best when they’re having fun, so sessions feel like play while still targeting specific goals. I will work with caregivers and mold the sessions into what we see gives the child efficient and effective progress.
Do you involve parents and families in therapy too?
Parents are part of the team! I invite family input when setting goals and provide strategies to carry over progress at home.
How often will my child need therapy sessions?
Most children require 1-2 visits per week. Frequency depends on your child’s unique needs. After the evaluation, we’ll decide together on a schedule that supports meaningful progress.
How long are sessions?
All sessions are about 30 minutes in length. I do offer bonus minutes for a small fee.
How do you navigate bilingual sessions?
I follow the child’s lead — if they speak in one language, we meet them there, and build skills across both languages at their pace.
Are you a trained professional in Gestalt Language Processing?
Yes, I am trained in Gestalt Language Processing (NLA Framework) through the Meaningful Speech course. This training allows me to support individuals using evidence-based strategies to honor and support their unique language development.
Progress & Outcomes
How do you measure my child’s progress?
I use a mix of data collection, observation, and parent feedback. I also share updates with you regularly so you always know how your child is doing.
How often will I get updates on goals?
You’ll get informal updates about each session through our portal and formal progress notes every six months, or sooner if needed.
How long does it take to see results?
Every child is different, but many families notice progress within the first few months of consistent therapy. Completion of home programs, diagnosis, and attendance all take part in seeing results.
What happens if my child isn’t making progress?
If progress slows, we re-evaluate goals and strategies together to make sure therapy stays effective and meaningful. Sometimes children need a break-and that’s OK too!
When do you determine if a child is ready for discharge?
When your child reaches their goals, or when you feel confident carrying over skills at home, we’ll celebrate their progress and decide together if it’s time for discharge.
Augmentative Alternative Communication
What is AAC?
AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It includes tools and strategies that help children communicate, such as picture boards, speech-generating devices (like tablets with special apps), or even sign language. AAC gives kids another way to express themselves when speech is hard.
Does using AAC mean my child won’t learn to talk?
No — research shows the opposite! AAC can actually support speech development by reducing frustration and giving children a way to communicate right away. Many children who start with AAC go on to develop more verbal speech.
Do I need special training to help my child use AAC?
No special background is needed — I’ll guide you step by step. I teach families how to use the system during everyday routines like mealtime, play, and getting ready for bed. The goal is to make AAC feel natural, not stressful.
Is AAC only for individuals who can’t talk at all?
Not at all. AAC can help children who are just beginning to use words, who use phrases that aren’t always clear, or who need extra support to get their message across. It’s not “all or nothing” — AAC can be used alongside speech.
Can AAC be used at school and home?
Yes! AAC works best when it’s used across settings. I collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families so your child’s voice is supported everywhere they go.
Do you help with getting a device and funding it?
Yes! I guide families through the entire process of exploring, trialing, and securing an AAC device. This includes writing the necessary evaluations and reports for insurance or Medicaid funding. I also walk families through paperwork, communicate with device companies, and support you until your child has the device in hand and knows how to use it.
Payment & Insurance
Do you accept insurance or Medicaid?
We currently only accept Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Do you offer private pay options?
Yes! Private pay is available for families who prefer it. Make sure you check out our services page for information on BONUS minutes and other private pay services.
What is the cost of an evaluation and a therapy session?
Rates vary based on the type of evaluation or session. Please contact me directly for a current fee schedule.
Do you provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement?
Yes! I can provide superbills so you may submit them to your insurance for possible reimbursement if I am out-of-network. Please note it is your responsibility to ensure your insurance accepts superbills for a reimbursement. I cannot guarantee reimbursement.
